Melinda's Makeover!

Hello again,
So on Sunday I came home and met several of my friends for makeovers. Melinda was up first, so I figured I'd post it before the others. Because of the huge catchup we had to have I only took pictures of the finished look, but I did a very in-depth step-by-step, so I hope you all enjoy it!

My friend Melinda has wonderful skin, it's very almost flawless, so not only was it incredibly easy to apply makeup for her, but it also allowed me to use products that don't work on my skin with the redness and acne I suffer from.

Face:
To begin I used the Dermaglow Perfect Primer, which is similar to the original Smashbox Photo Finish primer. It is clear with a gel-like consistency, and smooths out the skin for flawless foundation application.
Following the primer, I used GOSH velvet touch eye primer. I've had this product for ages, but I never really use it because my preference is Benefit's Stay Don't Stray eye primer, however after using this on Melinda's eyes I realize I should use this much more often! It made a lovely eyeshadow base.
Melinda brought her own foundation, and she chose the Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse foundation in "light 3". I quite liked the consistency of the product, and it had a medium coverage that is quite buildable.
To bronze the skin I used my favourite bronzer, the Smashbox Halo bronzer. I find that the colour looks quite daunting but when applied correctly gives a very natural, very subtle bronzed tone to the skin. The bronzer is completely matte, and the packaging is great because it shaves off the amount of product you want to use. This means the product is essentially a loose powder, but you only need to shave off what you need and it makes the product last forever! Also, this packaging means each time you use it, the bronzer has no bacteria and no exposure to any elements that might cause it to orange or change its colour. I find the packaging to be one huge bonus for this product.
To add some colour, I used Bare Minerals blush in the pink shade, Cheerful. The colour is perfect for lots of skin tones, and is lovely for this time of year.
Finally, I used some of Benefit's Watts Up to highlight the cheekbones. This is actually the only highlighter I own, but so far the champagne colour works on every skintone.

Eyes:
I used a Revlon cream eyeshadow palette in 701 Wild Orchid. I used the palest purple tone from her lashline to just above her crease, creating a base for the eyeshadows I used.
I then used Mac's Filament, a pale cream colour with silver sparkles in the inside corner of her eye, and also on her browbone.
Following that, I used Almay's Intense I-Shadow trio for green eyes (004). I took the purple shade and used it as a liner and then smudged the leftover colour into the crease of Melinda's eye.
Then I used Almay's liquid liner in Amethyst, a lovely dark purple, just on the top lashline.
Finally I used Essence's eye pencil in 01 Black Fever. For such a cheap eyeshadow I was incredibly happy with the colour payoff and pigmentation, it's definitely a good eyeliner for someone on a budget because it is a great value for money.
For the lashes I used Covergirl's 24 hour Lash Blast mascara in Very Black. The formula was very black, but the wand I find is far too big to actually use. Melinda has wonderful, long lashes, so the wand worked well, but when I later used it on my own eyes I found that the brush was far too big and kept getting product onto my eyelids. The mascara was very wet, and because the formulation is "24 hours", it took some work to take it off without destroying your eyeshadow.
For Melinda's brows I used my favourite brow product, Benefit's browzings in "light".

Lips:
For Melinda's lips I used a wonderful pink colour from Bourjous in the shade "61 Rose Talk". The colour is very rosy and perfect for springtime. It is bright without being over-the-top, and wearable for daytime while being able to be dressed up for an evening event.
