Some Pricey Purchases

Hey guys!

Firstly, I would like to apologize for the massive lack of posting that has happened this past two weeks. I have a few excuses: 1) I was shopping with my Mum and sister in the states, 2) I've been working like a crazy person and 3) A tornado hit my hometown. That last one is not a joke. This is my first day since Sunday with hydro and it has not been fun. (Ever had a freezing cold shower?)

Anyway, on with the post. When shopping in the states I came across a discount cosmetics store and thought I had hit the jackpot! I picked up these two beauties for about 1/4 of what retail would cost me. The retail price online is $74 and I purchased them for $20, which in my eyes is a bargain!

The Pure Chromatics eyeshadow quads from YSL are packaged in a beautiful gold casing.
The packaging is very sturdy and luxurious.
This is quad #8, with beautiful warm-toned golds and a deep olive green.
All of the shades are shimmery, designed to be used either wet for higher pigmentation, or dry for a more sheer finish.
When I realized what a gold mine I had hit I went back for another one. I could not keep my mind off of the deep cranberry shade in palette #7.
Again, all the shades are very shimmery. I wish the white shade was slightly more pigmented (it's actually a bit flaky) but the rest of the shades are to die for!
I was especially impressed with the two lower shades- I think they will be perfect for the fall and winter seasons!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, let me know if you'd like to see a tutorial featuring these quads!
Have a great day!

Taking A Day Off Of Eyeliner

Hey everyone,

I love wearing liquid eyeliner. The darkest black shade, with a cat-eye flick and lots of lashes, but I've been working so much recently I figured I'd skip my eyelining step and move straight onto eyelash curlers and some serious mascara. I layered Dior's "It-Lash" and Tarte's "Lights, Camera, Splashes" mascaras to give me lots of length, volume, curl and waterproof staying power. Here is how things worked out...
Firstly, I think the bold brow and lash look is actually quite flattering.
Layering the mascaras gave me lots of length.
 As you can see...
And I think it really framed my eyes without being too overpowering or makeup-y.

I can't say I'm a total convert, but I think on good skin, BB cream days I will skip the liner and go straight onto some lashes!
What do you think? Liner or lashes? Let me know!!

My First Tattoo

Hey everyone,

I know this post will be a little off topic, but since a tattoo is a change in appearance and is something you add to your body to make yourself look/feel better I think I can get away with posting about this.

I've wanted an owl tattoo for a very long time now. I've considered it and drawn owls here and there since about grade 9 (5/6 years ago) but I never really planned anything out too seriously. A few weeks ago I contacted my friend Melinda and we decided we would just go out and get it done, so that's exactly what happened.

My tattoo artist was Iris Art from Stratford, ON. I think she did an awesome job, she made sure everything was clean, that I was comfortable and made sure I felt 100% before actually getting in the chair. I liked how honest she was, she made it clear that taking care of your tattoo after it's done is super important, and even let me know of rare risks that could happen (but luckily didn't).

Here is the owl I drew up and the one I decided to go with.
I promise I'm not grimacing here, just on the verge of laughing actually.
And the result right after it was finished. I also realized how annoying it was that I didn't have a fresh mani to match the new tattoo, but quickly painted my nails when I got home!
Here's my little buddy after 6 hours of being bandaged.
The best solution for dry, peeling, itchy tattoo healing... "Tattoo Goo".
It smelled incredible, it has a slight olive oil scent but I really liked it. It absorbed relatively quickly and kept the tattoo looking new and moisturized.
And here is a nice little after shot to show you how well it's healing. I love him so much, I think he's such a cute little guy and everytime I see him I get all excited. He has faded a little more now (in a good way) and you can see the individual feathers and detail a little clearly, plus it doesn't look so much like a drawing and more like an actual tattoo. I hope you guys like it and don't mind this little update.

Have a great day!

Tarte "Lights Camera Splashes" Waterproof Mascara Review

Hey everyone,

Sorry I missed my last post, I've been crazy busy working and I haven't had much time to write and review products, but here I am now to write another post!
I'm reviewing Tarte's "Lights Camera Splashes" mascara, which is described as:

Tarte’s four-in-one waterproof mascara gives you the bombshell lashes you love, and it’s guaranteed to stay put through rain, sweat, or tears. Infused with Skinvigorating™ ingredients that soothe, and soften, it adds dramatic height to lashes.

To test this mascara out I went out on a boat. I figured this was the fairest way to see if a mascara is truly waterproof.
I have the sample size, but the packaging is still very cute.
The brush has classic bristles, no plastic. It has lots of bristles which really separate and lengthen lashes.
 Here's a before shot.
 Before.
 Before.
And seriously... I was in that water,
 It was beautiful!
Super handsome boyfriend just climbing around.
And sneaking in the back of my friends snapchats.
After. There is literally no difference. This mascara is incredible, a definite repurchase and something I will use again and again! 10/10!

A Product Worth Repurchasing: L'Oreal Sublime Soft Micellar Water

Hey everyone,

Today I'm going to rave about my favourite micellar cleansing water by L'Oreal. It's a gentle water based cleanser that removes makeup and dirt very quickly, with no need to rinse. I like it as a first cleanse before I go in with a cleansing balm or oil to give my skin a deeper clean. I've repurchased this product because it's affordable, gentle, effective and rivals some of the best French pharmacy brands like Bioderma.
Here's the empty
And the new one!

I really recommend this product and would certainly repurchase again and again!
I hope you enjoyed this little review and that the pictures showed how much I do love this product!

Have an excellent day,

Canada Day Reds

Hey everyone,

July 1st was Canada Day, and as a Canadian now I wanted to celebrate with a red lip (among other things). Here were my options and my final choice! Enjoy!
Bite Beauty's "Cranberry" High Pigment Pencil

Maybelline New York's "On Fire Red' from the "Vivids" collection

MAC's "Russian Red", matte formula lipstick

Rimmel London's "Apocalips" lip laquer in the shade "Big Bang"
 Swatches of all four shades
And in the end I chose Bite Beauty's "Cranberry" which lasted all night long!
Even through my favourite bands set (Amity Beach, check them out here)
 And of course the fireworks!
Happy belated Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians, thanks for reading!

White Nail Polish: Hit or Miss?

Hey guys!

For the last year or so, lots of people have been sporting white nail polish. Lots of girls with deeper skintones (think Kim K, Beyonce, Rihanna etc.) have been wearing the look, and I finally went out to buy a white nail polish to see if it would look just as good on paler girls. Now of course, there are no rules and anybody can wear whatever nail polish they want, but I hadn't seen many fair skinned gals try it out, so I thought I would!
Firstly for this sassy picture: I really love the contrast of black and white. Monochrome will always be fashionable (at least in my opinion) and I think adding white polish to an all black outfit can look really put together and polished.
Now I am actually a little more tanned than usual (thank you Olay self-tanner!) but I think it actually looks really nice. In fact, I'm surprised at how much I do like it. I think it probably stems back to the days of middle school when I would paint my nails with White-Out (or Tippex for the UK readers). Mum would always get so mad, so perhaps using white nail polish makes me feel all rebellious again!
I used Essie's "Blanc" a white shade that is neither matte nor shiny. Just a perfect in-between shade. I like the formula, although it does take two coats. I'm on day 4 of white nails now and I'm only noticing some chips at the tips of my nails- however, it could be a new base coat I'm using. (Post coming soon!)

Overall, white nail polish is a massive summer hit for me. It looks great with slightly tanned skin, when wearing black and it brings out my middle school rebellion. So it's basically perfect for me.
Let me know what you think!

Maybelline Baby Lips Neon Limited Edition Review

Hey everyone,

Recently I reviewed Maybelline's Dr Rescue Baby Lips line, and since they were mostly a hit, I thought I'd try the neon collection that they had. I own 4 shades, but there are 6 in the line.

Maybelline describes the collection as:

- Clinical Care With a Neon Kick
- Clinical Care + 8HR Moisture
- In 6 New Shades
I found mine in the double pack, but they are also sold individually.
 And another double pack.
I think the packaging is cute, I like how the whole line is the same but they each have different styled packaging. The black tube with the neon lettering is cute and I think it caters to an audience- mainly teenage girls.
Strike a Rose is a neon pink that isn't overpowering, but definitely packs a punch. The pigmentation is still sheer, but the neon is still visible. I think it makes wearing a bright colour much easier.
Fierce N Tangy is a bright yellow that really just comes out clear. I don't even notice much of a yellow tinge. It's alright because I'm not a fan of neon yellow lips... but if they're advertising it I think it should have some colour.
Pink Shock is quite similar to Strike A Rose, only a little more purple toned and less coral. It's a really pretty shade, and each of these balms have a glossy finish which makes the colours even more stunning.
Oh! Orange! is definitely my favourite shade. This is surprising because I am dreading the orange lip trend, but this is a really affordable and less offensive alternative that gives you a little bit of orange colour in a much more sheer and subtle way.
Indoors lighting. L-R: Strike A Rose, Fierce N Tangy, Pink Shock and Oh! Orange
Natural lighting: Same order as above
And with a flash.

I hope you all enjoyed this review! I really like this collection and would look out for the shades I'm missing!
Thanks for reading!
