New Years Eve Makeup Look 2014

Hey everyone,

The New Year is almost here and I'm getting pretty excited for it! I've got lots of fun new things planned for the blog, (bringing back Mani Monday?!) and generally trying to put out some better, higher quality posts for you all to read! Here's a tutorial on a NYE makeup look with three different options for lips! I hope you enjoy!

I began by using the MakeUpForEver HD Foundation in the shade 115
I used a cool toned eyeshadow on an angled brush to fill in my brows
I only used eyeshadows from the Naked palette by Urban Decay, beginning with Half Baked
I took it all over the lid
I then used the shade Virgin
I applied it to the inner corner and brow bone to highlight
I then used the shade Buck
Which I used in the crease of the eye to add some depth and warmth
I took the deeper, sparkly shade Smog
And gently pressed it into the outer corner of my eye to add some depth but to keep the glitter in place
Finally I took a mixture of Hustle and Creep in the outer corner to smoke it out a bit

I added a fair concealer to highlight under the eyes

I thought this made the eye look a bit too bold so I added some colour back into my face
To do that I added some bronzer by Tarte into the hollows of my cheeks and around my hairline

I also added NARS Orgasm to the apples of my cheeks
The first candidate for lips was Bite Beauty's Aubergine

The second option was a bright, glossy red from GOSH

And finally a shimmery gloss by Bobbi Brown- I think this one was my favourite

I tied my hair back so you can better see the contouring and blush

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and have a wonderful New Years celebration, whatever you're doing!!

MakeUpForEver HD Foundation Review

Hey everyone,

Today I'm reviewing the MakeUpForEver HD Foundation. I purchased this product in late November at IMATS in Toronto. I had wanted this foundation for a really long time for a few reasons. Firstly, the shade selection is excellent. I also heard great things about the coverage and how buildable it is.

The packaging is one of my favourite things about the product. It isn't in a glass bottle, it has a pump and is perfect for throwing in your makeup bag or travelling with.
It comes in 30ml bottles and retails for $49.00 CDN
I have the shade 115, a perfect match for my skin!
And a shot of the wonderful pump! Why don't all foundations have pumps!
 A glamorous 'before' shot
The consistency is quite liquid-y, but isn't watery.
 First coat
I find that it doesn't cover problem areas as well as some other foundations.
It does a great job of evening out the skintone, and covers dark circles pretty nicely too.

I applied a second coat over some problem areas which did a good job of covering blemishes. (Notice the dry skin around my nose looking more obvious though)
But this foundation has a terrible white cast in flash photography! I was so disappointed when I took this picture, not just because it's horrendous, but also because it's such an expensive foundation I feel like it should perform better in flash photography.
After adding some brows and a bit of contour I think it looks a lot more natural and less 'flat'
Other than the flash photo test, I really like this foundation!

I would say it has a medium coverage but is buildable.
The finish is a nice satin, not too matte and not too glowy.
I think it works better on smooth skin, it can stick to dry patches or bumpy areas of the face
Works really well blended with a brush or a sponge
Doesn't take too much product for good coverage, usually around 3 pumps for the whole face

Overall, I really like this foundation and I think it's a great everyday option.

Kiehl's "Nashi Blossom & Pink Grapefruit" Fragrance Set

Hey everyone,

Today I'm writing about a really sweet gift I received from my lovely boyfriend! It's by Kiehl's, a brand I had always heard amazing things about it but never tried myself. I got a sample size of their very popular face cleanser and moisturizer but I'm saving them for my trip to Europe in May. Enjoy the post!

The gift box it came in was so pretty! I was really impressed with the packaging of the products.
Inside the lid of the box is the "Mission of Kiehl's" and it explains a little bit about the brand and the quality they strive to replicate since the company began in 1851.
Inside the box was a 30ml fragrance lost and a 250ml body lotion in the same scent.
The body lotion isnt too thick and absorbs into the skin really nicely.
The scent itself is really fresh and not too strong. It has a really nice mixture of sweet and floral, while neither are overpowering. I find it smells quite floral at first, but settles to be a really nice, quite warm scent.
I think the bottle is my favourite part, I like how simple and elegant it is, it reminds me of an old school apothecary bottle which will look lovely on any dresser or vanity anywhere!

Overall I think this was a really lovely gift. It's nice because it's not an overly popular scent, giving you a unique signature scent! It was a really wonderful gift to receive and I think it would make a great present for any occasion!
